Matthew, Ashley and their Mom share the highlights of their college application journey with Anja Education.
Mom:
I think approaching the senior year when you have twins, especially, I realized how much I didn't know. It's been a few years since I applied to college.
And I didn't want to be in the position where I was trying to be the resource and be the ringleader and me being the person to crack the whip and get down to it.
So, I mean, it helped tremendously having you, Anjali, as the advocate and setting the expectations and setting the timelines and providing that guidance to where I was able to just basically be significantly removed from the day to day tasks that needed to be done.
Matthew:
And the two kind of big things that I think I would have just been really lost on without y'all would have been finding like figuring out what colleges are good. And then writing essays. I would have been lost on both of those things.
Ashley:
The best for me, so it was easy like having deadlines and having firm deadlines of having to get things done, and the way we were able to break it up a lot was helpful for me as well.
And connecting with Anjali’s team help us. She was really helpful, and she made things like a lot easier to like narrow down topics and help brainstorm and it was helpful.
Mom:
I just didn't, you know, I didn't have the time myself to be able to do all that coordination or the research myself so that was huge.
I thought it was incredibly helpful. I love the tools you gave them to help them.
Just like determine their interests and kind of help funnel them toward logical selections, what should they be looking for. I mean, I really think it helped both of them, kind of narrow it down from the thousands of options they had out there, down to what would make sense for them.
So I think all of the education you provided them, you know, through your ongoing meetings, I think we're just were tremendous and helping guide them along the way.
And then, I guess probably the, you know, on all the essay writing that ordinarily, I would have been excruciatingly involved with. You helping get them going and and I loved your guidance that, Mom, this is not your job.
Mom started to say that, and so I took that to heart.
So it, it, it really, it just helped taking me out of that loop.
And I think and I think they're both really excited and confident, and I have a giggly boy over here.
Matthew:
So, for me, there were a couple of takeaways, I was never really that good at writing, but I did get much a lot better persuasive writing.
That was pretty helpful.
There was also just kind of, it was more like learning research skills but wasn't the kind of research, I learned in school where you got your research and grab your sources, there was more research of what do I want kind of just figuring out what I want, and that was a lot more.
That was a new process to learn. And I have, looking back, yeah, I've been a lot better at that after this and other things in my life, I've been much better at that.
Just figuring out what I want and knowing what I want to go after.
Mom:
You know, we got one scholarship that more than paid for.
More than paid for it.
So yeah, I mean I think it was, it was a positive ROI.
Absolutely recommend you to other families.
Just because you are, you are so knowledgeable, you know the things to look for, you know the questions to ask, you know the timelines and can help structure the year leading up to the decision, so that it's not all left to the last minute.
So I think, yes, working with you was just invaluable and saved my sanity, I would say.
I would say go for it. It was a, it was a very good decision that my husband and I made to go with you.
